I used to dislike Thanksgiving. It always seemed like a boring holiday where the woman worked all day and the men lounged in front of the TV watching football. But as I've gotten older I've come to appreciate the true meaning of the holiday and I've tried to find ways of incorporating that meaning into our family traditions. I relax more and try to enjoy time with family. I don't stress as much about the food or the details. (At least as much as I used to.) As a family we've tried to start traditions that are fun like bowling, decorating gingerbread houses and playing games. But most importantly I've tried to find time to reflect on all the things I'm thankful for...and there are plenty. Just a few of this years:
See you on Monday! Don't forget to register for the Cuisine at Home Magazine Subscription giveaway. I'll announce the winner on Monday.
Motherhood...there are not enough words
My hubby...the love of my life
My baby girl...I never knew such joy before
The new little baby growing inside me...what a miracle
My health, my families health...life is precious
The knowledge of the Gospel...where would I be without it
Our home...I have more than I need
My parents...they have given me so much
My siblings...best friends for life
Family...Gods safety net
Friends...a chosen family
My talents...I have been blessed
My weaknesses...I have learned so much
My trials...they bring me closer to God
I could type pages!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'll be taking a few days off to enjoy the holiday and spend undivided time with my family and friends. May your weekend be wonderfully delicious and full of thanks.
